Estimate Your Painting Project Costs
There are a lot of factors to consider when pricing a painting job, but we’ve simplified the process as much as we can based on years of experience.
The Interior Cost Estimator
When estimating interior paint project costs, we average $450 per standard interior room. This covers light wall preparation, some light drywall finishing (dents, cracks, picture holes, sanding, etc), two coats of wall paint, and trim painting (including doors). This does not typically include ceilings or significant drywall patching. Ceilings and drywall patching would be extra. Ceilings can often be their own paint project, as we have seen people want to remove the ‘popcorn” ceilings, or sand away designs or textures, or even add texture to smooth ceiling surfaces. This can also include sound dampening solutions to reduce echos. If you have a need for specific ceiling work, we encourage you to call or email for a custom quote.
Bathrooms are estimated at $300 per standard full bathroom. This covers walls and trim, and light wall preparation including some light drywall finishing (dents, cracks, picture holes, sanding, etc), two coats of wall paint, and trim painting (including doors). Additional options may be applied such as textured walls, multiple color combinations, or sealing counter-tops and surfaces for additional costs.
Master bedrooms are slightly more, estimated at $550 because of their larger size and trim. Trey ceilings are included if they have a smooth surface and will match the existing paint. Additional costs may be required for an accent color or trim work.
Master bathrooms are also slightly higher at $500 per bathroom because of their larger size and difficulty to finish due to more prep work, taping, and care needed. As with standard bathrooms, additional options may be applied such as textured walls, multiple color combinations, or sealing counter-tops and surfaces for additional costs.
The Exterior Cost Estimator
The exterior cost is sometimes more difficult to gauge. The base price is set with a square foot estimation at $1.50 per square foot. Additional costs are added for different types of finishes or siding that may require additional prep work or different paint types. Multiple colors or color changes are also additional, as those also require more prep work. Brick and other masonry may be stained instead of painted in some instances, which may also increase the price of the project.
Not all paint projects are the same, and depending on specific needs, you may find that your actual price is lower or higher than the estimate. Our goal is to give you a tool to establish the scope and ball park pricing for your project so you know what to expect. Competitors may offer higher or lower costs based on experience, quality of materials used, and time and care taken for each project, so you may find that estimates you get from other companies can vary. Our goal is to give as accurate of an estimate as possible based on our experience and the expertise in knowing what it takes to get beautiful, long lasting results that we are both proud of.
